First Person Tetris

The homie Brendan hooked me up with another cool website. First-Person Tetris is a pretty awesome take on one of the most epic games of all times. Developed by David Kraftsow, thanks!

Fuck Shit Stacks

Found this videoclip to a rather odd song (seemingly just about “fuck” and “shit” and some kind of “stacks”) by Reggie Watts. I totally love his afro, and if I ever had a ‘fro and beard like that, I would definately want to rock his hooded outfit from the video as well. Bas ass! Directed by Duncan Skiles and Ben Dickinson, two of the guys behind Waverly Films :)

Bittersweet Sarcasm from Chris

Todd Lamb, the guy who calls himself Chris in the execution of his idea, plays a sweet subtile pun at who knows what. Make of it what you will, I found his notes that he apparantly posts all over New York City very entertaining. More notes here! Filed under Street Art, because it’s intended for the people that walk there.

TurmKunst Checkup

A while ago I tipped you guys off about an international art project by artists Flying Förtress, Honet, Sozyone and Craig “Krink” Costello. The idea was to give one of the towers in Berlin a sweet new colour. By now the project is in full effect, and Just (from the previous post) was there to photograph it once more. Check out his photos (or just the Turmkunst ones) and awe! Turmkunst :)

Above is KR’s work, two more photos after the jump! (more…)

How Banksy’s Movie Came To Be

Five minutes really worth watching if you’re even vaguely interested in street art. This trailer for Exit Through The Gift Shop has some epic moments and a rrrrreally clever paper dog that stands up on ventilation shafts. Thierry Guetta, you’ll see him in the movie, seems like an interesting character to me, he even has his own Wiki page, but not so much ofcourse as the conceiving artist, Banksy :P Oh, and the video, Prefuse tipped me off about it

MAR10: Bit And Run

One of the first Super Mario videos I actually think is funny (I love the game), so here’s me sharing it with you :) The conveiving artist is Cory Godbey, 26 year old illustrator guy from South Carolina, USA. He’s got a whole blog filled with not only this vid, but also comics and wallpapers, all in tribute to MAR10, or rather, Super Mar10. Check it out! Via DRAWN

Turm Kunst

Turmkunst” they call it, the german words for “tower” and “art”. Honet (France), Flying Förtress (Germany), Craig “KR” Costello (US&A) and Sozyone (Spain) will be painting the outsides of this former restaurant. I’m not sure if I think the building is butt-ugly or retrofuturistic cool (some pictures of it from a worms eye view are quite cool), but I am quite certain that it could use a little touch-up. After the damage has been done, 14 international artists will exhibit their work there.

Work starts on April 4th, exhibition May 15th. If I have money I might just make the trip. God living in Europe is awesome!

The video at the top of this post just about says it all, but if you could always check out their site or Vimeo profile for more info and video. I’ve included a clear pic of the Bierpinsel after the (more…)

David Maisel Sees All

.. from the window of his plan/helicopter/rocket or a really really tall and portable building. Anyway. These aerial photographs by David Maisel are supercool. They’re so beautiful one would almost not recognise them as aerials if you didn’t know better. But not only do they look pretty, they are also themed around human intervention with nature and the funny habit we have of destroying things we love. Like nature and fresh air. Check out the post on 2fotos.blogspot.com where I originally found these photos, or the guy’s website, for dozens upon dozens more, or hit the jump for three of my other favourites :) (more…)

Crystals And Lasers

This is Matt W. Moore painting one of the most funkalicious murals, who knew triangles could ever be so exciting :D This particular piece is across the street from Since Gallery in Paris, France. Matt casually mentions it on his blog, from what I understand this was on the wall of an school on a public street. It’s part of a bigger whole, namely Matt’s very own solo exhibition at Since.

“has traveled to Paris for one month to prepare, from scratch, for his first Paris Solo-Exhibition. He arrived with no art, no supplies, and no firm plan for this new series of canvas paintings. The ideas for the artworks have actualized while processing time spent absorbing French Cult”

The adress, on a sidenote, is 211 rue Saint-Maur, going from Feb 5th till March 3rd 2010. Funky poster after the (more…)

Nosaj Thing

I got my hands on Nosaj Thing’s album today, heard great things about this LA producer. And it was all right, I’ve had the 36 minute long debut album “Drift” on repeat all day. Definately recommendable! Nothing but love for this guy, so go ahead and befriend Jason Chung on MySpace. You’re listening to the opening song, “Fog” which is my personal favourite I think. Dunno, I just love the arpeggio and the whole gloomy lot of it. There’s much more ear goodness on the album, and for those who just can’t get enough, I’ve included the movie clip to Nosaj Thing’s “Aquarium” after the jump. Nice storytelling! (more…)

the Pump serving Crap

This is a commercial/promotional video for New York based eatery “The Pump“. They serve “Energy Food”. The video is hella funny, and it isnt all fiction because “The Pump” actually exists. Not sure what to expect if I ever get the chance to order there. Maybe some eye-candy :)

Taki 183

Click here to read this interview! The guy who allegedly started it all, TAKI 183, talks to ilovegraffiti.de about what was on his mind when he was the first to spraypaint tags all over his city New York. Interesting insights from a legend :) Via REVOK

Wacko Jacko

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was probably found wanking off to one of these commisioned portraits of himself, the day he decided to take an overdose. Three more sick images after the jump. I stole them from Starcasm. (more…)

Saber Speaks

Saber, the “king of graffiti” from LA that became famous when he (according to Fox News) defaced the American flag in a video contest for the USA health care system, finally speaks, and it is interesting. Frankly, I never knew that there are americans that cannot be insured for health care even if they wanted to. In holland everybody *must, by law, be insured, and in Sweden health insurance is included in the taxes.

Audrey Kawasaki in the Big Apple

It’s always nice to keep tabs on people as talented as Audrey Kawasaki. Audrey has an amazing style thats very recognizable. It looks sterile and sexy and sometimes eery or macabre and sweet and all o’ that. I’ve only had the chance to marvel at her work online, but for all the people in New York: Your time is now! The Jonathan LeVine Gallery is hosting her work in an exhibition, “Hajimari”.

Audrey Kawasaki is a Japanese-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, where she currently lives and works. Kawasaki’s work contains contrasting themes of innocence and eroticism, conveying the mysterious intrigue of feminine sensuality. Her sharp imagery is painted with precision onto wooden panels, the natural grain adding warmth to her enigmatic subject matter. The artist’s creative influences include eastern as well as western traditions such as Art Nouveau and Japanese Manga comics. She paints sultry, seductive and uninhibited female subjects with delicate beauty and provocative, direct eye contact. Their graceful gestures and ghost-like features carry mysterious expressions of melancholy and longing.”

Chr1s Br0wn’s New Shit Album

Chr1s Br0wn’s new album is named Graffiti, and I find both concept and conceiver equally appalling. Just look at the cover. Where exactly does it radiate relevance to “graffiti”? I don’t mean to embarras any french electro groups or compliment C.B.’s shit, but it reminds me of Daft Punk rather than street art.

“Ive been doing graffiti for 20 years and i wouldnt be caught anywhere under any circumstances wearing that embarrassing monstrosity.” – Revok

Well said! To conclude this post with, thanks to the honourable (and really graffiti) Revok for bringing this bitch to my attention. I’m writing “Chr`1s Br0wn” the way I am because I don’t want to cause any more fuzz about his album than there already is.
