TurmKunst CheckupA while ago I tipped you guys off about an international art project by artists Flying Förtress, Honet, Sozyone and Craig “Krink” Costello. The idea was to give one of the towers in Berlin a sweet new colour. By now the project is in full effect, and Just (from the previous post) was there to photograph it once more. Check out his photos (or just the Turmkunst ones) and awe! Turmkunst :) Above is KR’s work, two more photos after the jump! (more…)
The Coming and Going of AtlasL’Atlas struck once again, this time at the Oberbaumbruecke in Berlin, leaving his signature where, if it wasn’t for that bridge, might have been recognizable from outer space. It might have something to do with a group exhibition at Skalitzers Gallery (“Kiss the City”) where the Atlas shines together with Babou, Sun7 and Tanc. Just from ekosystem.org took some amaaazing pictures that are worth checking out, not to mention I just love Atlas’s style and ethics. I’ve included my 5 favourites after the jump, but you should know that there are lots more and lots better ones on the aforementioned blog. Via the Wooster Collective :) (more…)
I was hereA never-published Vandivert photograph, illustrating a common practice of soldiers through the centuries: scrawling graffiti to honor fallen comrades, insult the vanquished, or simply announce, I was here. I survived. “Columns at entrance into Chancellery gardens,” wrote Vandivert of this eerie scene, “showing bomb and artillery wreckage and names of Russians who fell in fighting there.” – William Vandivert, Berlin, 1945
Turm Kunst“Turmkunst” they call it, the german words for “tower” and “art”. Honet (France), Flying Förtress (Germany), Craig “KR” Costello (US&A) and Sozyone (Spain) will be painting the outsides of this former restaurant. I’m not sure if I think the building is butt-ugly or retrofuturistic cool (some pictures of it from a worms eye view are quite cool), but I am quite certain that it could use a little touch-up. After the damage has been done, 14 international artists will exhibit their work there. Work starts on April 4th, exhibition May 15th. If I have money I might just make the trip. God living in Europe is awesome! The video at the top of this post just about says it all, but if you could always check out their site or Vimeo profile for more info and video. I’ve included a clear pic of the Bierpinsel after the (more…)
Viktor TimofeevViktor Timoveef is the name of the Latvian genius that manages to put so much space on paper with such beautiful lines. Why didn’t I think of this?? If you’re not going to check out his portfolio, at least have a look at the four images after the jump :) (more…)
