Paradise Circus

A video for one of the tracks on Massive Attack’s new album :) Music video/porno/documentary mashup. Interesting enough to see, the music is great, but definately not safe for work.

Chicks With Guns

Chicks with guns, yeah, but maybe a little bit less sexually available to you as you might hope. These are real pictures from girls on duty in the Israeli army. Rachel Papo, did service in the late 80’s herself for two years, went back to photograph this phenomenon. All “models” are at least 18 years of age. 5 Handpicked favourites after the jump! Also, I’ve filed this under “Women” too because I know how much of the american population gets a hard-on from guns. (more…)

Humble Homunculus

As taken from the Vimeo page:

Humble is proud to present, Homunculus, the first of an annual series of experimental films by our in-house directing collaborative, Hydra. Conceived of and directed by Sam Stephens, Homunculus is a dark and twisted fable of spontaneous generation and untrammeled id. Taking its title from the Latin word for “Little Human”, the piece is an associative mashup between the two concepts behind the word: The first being middle-age alchemical beliefs that “little men” could be spontaneous generated from dead or decaying matter. The second being Carl Jung’s usage as a personification of pure id. These ideas, combined with our love of Dutch still life’s “beautiful decay,” sowed the seeds for this unique little monster of a film.”

A video of the day after (or rather, the day after 11 days of timelapsed decomposition) cleaning-up is included after the jump! (more…)

Spacey themes in these collages hand-made by Michal Bartlomowicz. Seeing his blog I’d say this is a man of few words, but my sources at Definitive Touch. Three more favourites after the jump :) (more…)

What Up Gangstars #4

To hold my first ever tradition in honour, here is episode 4 of What Up Gangstars, a show from the internet featuring a talking muppet. It’s a real wiseass, which usually makes the video kinda funny in a way. At least, it did for the last 2 vids. Here’s #4, I don’t know what happened to #3. Enjoy!

Viktor Timofeev

Viktor Timoveef is the name of the Latvian genius that manages to put so much space on paper with such beautiful lines. Why didn’t I think of this?? If you’re not going to check out his portfolio, at least have a look at the four images after the jump :) (more…)

Machotaildrop

The trailer to Machotaildrop looks interesting enough. Ranked a 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb, I think I’m definately going to cop myself a copy of this one. I wonder whose idea it was to put a password on their website though…

Crazy Ass Pixaçao

Revok saw it too. Pixaçao is the name, graffiti of the poor, graffiti from the streets. They don’t even pretend it to be “street art”, this is just terror and they’re proud of it. The common handwriting is quite distinctive though… Six more pixaçao shots after the (more…)

Nosaj Thing

I got my hands on Nosaj Thing’s album today, heard great things about this LA producer. And it was all right, I’ve had the 36 minute long debut album “Drift” on repeat all day. Definately recommendable! Nothing but love for this guy, so go ahead and befriend Jason Chung on MySpace. You’re listening to the opening song, “Fog” which is my personal favourite I think. Dunno, I just love the arpeggio and the whole gloomy lot of it. There’s much more ear goodness on the album, and for those who just can’t get enough, I’ve included the movie clip to Nosaj Thing’s “Aquarium” after the jump. Nice storytelling! (more…)

Gilles Et Dada

Gilles Et Dada, a peculiar fashion brand that actually describes itself as a “nonsense fashion brand” that’s based in Helsinki (Finland, Europe). Maybe I’m not so hyped for everything in their collection, but their pictures are nice and I like the approach. Basically, they’re just photofucking their models to make beautiful images, and I like. Via trusty notcot, three more images after the jump! (more…)

Craig Costello @ Stilwerk

In a similar style to painting the Krink Mini, mister Craig “KR” Costello fucks up the Stilwerk space in Hamburg, which is some kind of institute dedicated to design and everything that’s hip. Craig is the originator of my favourite make of markers, Krink, so I guess he has a right to spill precious paint like that. The video isn’t as flashy as the Mini one, but the result is nice. Let’s just hope they don’t play this out too much because then I’ll not be able to do it anymore :)

Rubber Johnny

My exotic friends from Denmark, Maja and Lisa, introduced me to this video. I may have seen it before, but it freaked the crap out of me once more. Actually, I’m not even sure I managed to finish it the first time ;) As the quoted description of the 2005 youtube video nicely summarizes:

One of the most buggy and trippy films youll ever see..I reccomend to watch in the dark alone…

This video, titled “Rubber Johnny“, was made by Chris Cunningham to promote Aphex Twins’s album “drukqs”. The freaky sack of bones in the wheelchair is actually director Chris himself. I wonder if its also the conceiving artist’s dick in the shot where we see a rubber johnny get pulled off in reverse. The song playing is “afx237 v7 (w19rhbasement remix)”, and yes, this is a music video.

Machinarium

Machinarium, an interactive flash game with truely amazing graphics. With beautiful artwork and crafty engineering, the members of Czech web agency Amanita Design have persuaded many lucky ones before you to help this cute little robot trough the big bad wasteland of some post-apolcalyptic robo society? It’s a kind of a puzzler, you could say. Play this online!

the Pump serving Crap

This is a commercial/promotional video for New York based eatery “The Pump“. They serve “Energy Food”. The video is hella funny, and it isnt all fiction because “The Pump” actually exists. Not sure what to expect if I ever get the chance to order there. Maybe some eye-candy :)

Kevin van Aelst

Give a science freak a camera and a dutch name, and voila genius pictures. Check out these snapshots taken by the mastermind Kevin van Aelst. Combining everyday materials and food with topics of science, anatomy, mathematical drawings and whatnot, this man makes for a couple of more than interesting photos. I had a great time checking out his gallery, I hope you will too. Three more of my favourite science photos after the jump :) Thanks to TWBE for the update (more…)
