Dutch hip-hoppers Kern Koppen, De Règâhs and Esku rapping proper props to my favourite city Den Haag (aka s’Gravenhage), Holland. Nice video to it by Mink Pinster, which is part of a documentary “Ja, Dat Is Den Haag“. This music video features some of the most recognizable spots in the Hague that you’ll definately (should) see for yourself if you’re ever coming to visit.
Found this videoclip to a rather odd song (seemingly just about “fuck” and “shit” and some kind of “stacks”) by Reggie Watts. I totally love his afro, and if I ever had a ‘fro and beard like that, I would definately want to rock his hooded outfit from the video as well. Bas ass! Directed by Duncan Skiles and Ben Dickinson, two of the guys behind Waverly Films :)
My homebody Brendan from HypeThemBeats hooked me up with this intense music video of Example’s track “Kickstart” (which was remixed into something dubsteppy by bar9). Example is from Fulham, West London, United Kingdom, as you might be able to tell from the british accent and unproportional violence. The video was directed by Richie Thomassen, who is from Brooklyn NY. Has a happy ending!
Prefuse 73 (Myspace) is just mad dope as usual. I brainwashed myself with his albums “Surrounded by Silence”, “One Word Extinguisher” and recently got to chugging down “Extinguished Outtakes”. They’re all so fucking delicious, but this track has the dopest vocal play of them all.
This is NASA featuring Kool Keith and Tom Waits with the song “Spacious Thoughts” off their new album “The Spirit Of Apollo“. Video reminds me of that Gnarls Barkley one (“Crazy” or something), and this beat and weird grunting is awesome. Good combo if you ask me. Found it on Popwhore :)
Another MC from the many talents Sout Africa produces, underground rapper Ben Sharpa calls it quits. Dope-track to a dope-ass video that compliments the album artwork and the cut up beat beautifully. I’ve included the album cover after the jump, cause it looks pretty awesome :) Pioneer Unit Records! (more…)
This video is phenominally cool. Je vous presenté, Sébastien Tellier avec “Look“! Video was made by Mrzyk & Moriceau. I don’t know who they thát is but their myspace says a 100 year old chick from coconutisland?
Gorillaz’s “Official Youtube Premiere” of the videoclip for Stylo, from their new album (drops March 8th, it’s already on the internet) “Plastic Beach”. I love it! The clip has such a Tarantinoesque feel to it I was immediately reminded of Death Proof. I’ve taken the liberty of including a cool Death Proof poster after the jump. Although Death Proof doesnt have Bruce Willis in it, an actor Tarantino loves to work with, this videoclip does! Track features Mos Def and Bobby Womack. (more…)
Trippy vid from what I presume is a japanese director called Takuya Hosogane, from the what I presume to be the Bonsajo collective. I have a feeling this was generated through Above Flash 4. Trippy music was the responsibility of Cubesato and Meine Meinung (“My Opinion”), just how I like it. Check out the Vimeo page to find out more about this and some more links.
A video for one of the tracks on Massive Attack’s new album :) Music video/porno/documentary mashup. Interesting enough to see, the music is great, but definately not safe for work.
Zuid-Afrikaanse (south-african) next-level rap! Influenced by rap, rave, ninjas, “hi-tek shit”, yin yang and Kid Rock’s coupe back in the old days. “Die Antwoord” is signed to Watkykjy, check out their website(s) becaues they both allow you to snoop some more sounds.
Die Antwoord is a zef rap-rave crew from Cape Town, South Africa. Die Antwoord crew is Ninja, Yo-landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek. Die Antwoord is a lovable, mongrel-like entity made in South Africa, the love-child of many diverse cultures, black, white, coloured and alien, all pumped into one wild and crazy journey down the crooked path to enlightenment.
My exotic friends from Denmark, Maja and Lisa, introduced me to this video. I may have seen it before, but it freaked the crap out of me once more. Actually, I’m not even sure I managed to finish it the first time ;) As the quoted description of the 2005 youtube video nicely summarizes:
One of the most buggy and trippy films youll ever see..I reccomend to watch in the dark alone…
This video, titled “Rubber Johnny“, was made by Chris Cunningham to promote Aphex Twins’s album “drukqs”. The freaky sack of bones in the wheelchair is actually director Chris himself. I wonder if its also the conceiving artist’s dick in the shot where we see a rubber johnny get pulled off in reverse. The song playing is “afx237 v7 (w19rhbasement remix)”, and yes, this is a music video.
