Scarlett Monroe by Dan Luvisi

I came across this “speedpainting” of what it would look like if Scarlett Johansson and Marilyn Monroe successfully reproduced and had a girl together, waited 20, 25some years and fed her some make-up. But no seriously, Scarlett Monroe is an awesome portrait of the fictional combination of the world’s most classic beauty’s, as a fun project by Dan Luvisi, on deviantArt better known as adonihs. The man is a professional and he’s got a portfolio to show for it. Hats off! Bonus image for the Kick-Ass campaign after the jump, also by Luvisi. (more…)

Martine Johanna

Martine Johanna from Amsterdam (the Netherlands, you nitwits) got an awesome style down, depicting loads and loads of everyone’s favourite subject, girls, and more on paper, surfboards, walls and probably just about anything you pay her for ;) Check out her website and portfolio for an awesome view into her artwork. It is sometimes sexual and sometimes personal, great combo! Haha. I said it before; art chicks are WIN! Via City of Skies. Three more works of art after the jump! (more…)

The Eagle Has Landed

The “Gazet van Antwerpen” (it’s a newspaper) featured a cartoon about the tragic planecrash of Polish president Kaczynski and 90 passengers en crewmembers, last saturday. Kaczynski will be buried coming sunday in Krakau. The cartoon has caused some disturbance among the Polish population, which I can understand, but like Kurt Westergaard always says, they’ll just have to be able to take some satire. I couldn’t find the name of the cartoonist (signed “Quirit” though), but considering his safety maybe it’s for the best ;) On a sidenote, I find most of the other cartoons on that newspapers website are horrible to look at.

Hidden Moves

Hidden Moves, the toybox of Welsh designer Rhys Owens, doesn’t have a lot to offer quantity-wise, but as far as quality is concerned it’s got plenty. Check out these awesome graphics, available on posters or t-shirts for no more than 25 pounds! I’m digging this style so much I might just order one, and for sure that I’m including three more images after the jump! :P (more…)

Audrey Kawasaki in the Big Apple

It’s always nice to keep tabs on people as talented as Audrey Kawasaki. Audrey has an amazing style thats very recognizable. It looks sterile and sexy and sometimes eery or macabre and sweet and all o’ that. I’ve only had the chance to marvel at her work online, but for all the people in New York: Your time is now! The Jonathan LeVine Gallery is hosting her work in an exhibition, “Hajimari”.

Audrey Kawasaki is a Japanese-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, where she currently lives and works. Kawasaki’s work contains contrasting themes of innocence and eroticism, conveying the mysterious intrigue of feminine sensuality. Her sharp imagery is painted with precision onto wooden panels, the natural grain adding warmth to her enigmatic subject matter. The artist’s creative influences include eastern as well as western traditions such as Art Nouveau and Japanese Manga comics. She paints sultry, seductive and uninhibited female subjects with delicate beauty and provocative, direct eye contact. Their graceful gestures and ghost-like features carry mysterious expressions of melancholy and longing.”

Check out this flickr gallery for more photos.

Stein Louisse

Allright, time to introduce you to the stuff a once-classmate makes. These are the works of crazy funky animator/illustrator/innovator Stein Louisse. He hit me up with his new website blogthing that has stuff on it that you couldn’t find on his DeviantArt profile. His skillz and style ranges from graffiti to completely eclectic bubble characters to striking portraits of feminine beauty. I, for one, have always been a fan. Check it out! Check it all out!!!

Vania Zouravliov

I “blogged” Vania Zouravliov’s outstanding illustrations some time ago on a blog or two ago. Now the man is back, or rather he’s sprung into my field of view again. Check it out! Unfortunately I couldn’t find a website, so check out his photo gallery on Facebook, it has loads and loads of goody drawings. I think I’ll contact him soon, tell him that Facebook reserves the right to use any and all photos or images on their servers, and maybe offer him a website too. He deserves it, no?

Two more drawings after the jump. (more…)
